Similarly to my strategy with call options, I'd suggest that bears used puts instead of shorting the stock.

My take for the earnings announcement and conference call is that Yahoo management will be very professional and present the facts, just the facts and no hype.

Bear in mind that a runaway stock price is not good for the future of young companies like Yahoo. They have to attract good ambitious young talents and have to compete against the likes of MSFT, ORCL which have deep pockets. Jobs are begging for young computer scientists, especially in Silicon Valley. Companies like Yahoo have to offer incentives in the form of stock options. Usually the excercise price is based on the recent trades (average of or low of the period etc.). To have Yahoo stock commanding nosebleed level, that stock option does not have much appeal. How much more of an appreciation can that young scientist hope for?

Management and insider have sold their shares earlier this year. They are the people who know best about the company.

For the above two reasons, I feel that management will not at all opposed if the conference call does not translate into price appreciation. My take is that there will be no stock split.
