Win 95 / NT dual boot.

I assume you have Win 95 on your C drive. If you have the B version of Win 95 your C drive is probably formatted FAT 32.

If you want both operating systems to see both drives ( ie WIN 95 to see files on D drive and NT to see files on C drive as well as their own drive you will have to format both drives FAT 16.

I don't think there is a straight forward way to install NT on the D drive only. The system boots first to the C drive so NT will want to put some boot files on the C drive. There needs to be FAT 16 for this to happen. I would recommend FAT 16 on all drives in a dual boot setup.

If you want to change formats use Partition Magic ($49). You can change partitions and formats without the loss of data.

I believe the most straight forward approach is to start with Win 95 on a FAT 16 formatted C drive and then install NT on the C drive.

I got (2) 4.3 gig HDs my...... C currently has Win95 OSR2 on
it.............Fat32

I want to install NT4 WorkStation on my 2nd drive...............

I know I will need a Fat16 Partition on the C drive to run NT4......But how big , is 4mb enough??

Or should I install Partition Magic Boot Manager?

Also will I have problems with programs (NT) when they try to install to the drive?? (2nd HD)
because some CD ROM Programs want to install files (.ini .cfg) to the C
drive.

I would be open to any and all suggestions anyone has......

I already have NT4 server running on another system...

Thanx Dave

You can do a dual boot using the BIOS disable the 1st hard disk with win95 from the BIOS and leave the other being visible. Then you make a "clean" installation of winnt to that drive and that's all. After this you can enable both physical drives. The dual boot you can make then will be ONLY from BIOS(I am sure it has this option). This is the only solution I have found for this and I use it.

To All:

Does anyone have experience with high speed comm. ports, like the LavaLink 650(lavalink.com), or the TurboExpress 920(turbocomm.comm)? They look interesting, but I'm not certain that they will deliver the speeds they claim.
