I spoke with David (Loflin) last night. He had just come back from Las Vegas where he had been attending the National Broadcasters Association meeting. He was very upbeat and said he had some interesting discussions with some people there.

Anyway, I went over the highly technical questions that had been posted here by David Waitt (works for Metricom) and WTC (not sure who he works for). He answered all of them and without giving away the keys to the vault I will post some of them:

1. MEME's system (900 Mhz - 5.8 GHz) is not asymmetric - it is fast down-link and fast up-link.

2. They use part 15 and existing frequencies - they have some spectrum licensed.

3. Throughput: standard up to 2 Mbps; customized up to 10 Mbps.

4. MEME does not use hopping sequence.

5. "enormous investment of purchasing spectrum". This is one of the areas where MEME is ahead of the pack. They ALREADY own wireless spectrum which was bought/leased way before the expensive auctions - therefore they got it CHEAP.

6. MEME will maintain the network.

7. At the demo - Potentially higher RF data rates were choked by the 128kbps ISDN connection - yes. (demoed at 2.4 GHz)

Next demo in San Francisco in a few weeks - a MAJOR event! Hope this helps you spies out there.

Richard

DAVID.
Then just ask another RF engineer....Very easy, takes 10 minutes, ask them if what I am claiming is true, or better yet, lets hear from an engineer at MEME. You do nto have to believe me, you simply have to open a physics book!
