I'll try it again later. Limiting it to visited links only should get rid of the bookmark erasure problem, although I wonder if it'll prefetch all of the messages in a thread.

Since you asked, and since we geeks love to brag about our, errr, equipment, I'm using a P200MMX with 256MB SDRAM (I can't believe how cheap it is -- seriously considering buying a motherboard that can accommodate 1 gig of RAM), 8.4g (main), 2.5g (backups), and 1.2g (mail) hard drives for starters. Beyond that, it gets kinda weird (CD jukebox, scanner, Intel camera, Turtle Beach sound card, tape drive, etc, etc).

I've become accustomed to "glitches" as one incompatibility or another is uncovered by just about anything I do to the system.
