How about Da'tic?

Datek Online has no plans to charge anything for Streamer.
But we do need a better name.

Well, it's not working here, Peter. I use Netscape 4.04, and IE 4.01, and nothing happens. E-mailed you, waiting for response.

Is it supposed to work from behind a firewall? I've emailed the error messages.

What about QuoteStream?

Peter, this sounds great. Will certainly set you apart from the competition.

When are NY symbols going to be included?

I should let you know that in comparison to Bullsession, Daystreamer updates noticeably quicker. But I always noticed Bullsession quotes to be a few seconds behind both Datek (click quotes) and Lombard (I know, a bad word around here). I will drop them completely when you guys have options and checking.

Keep up the good work.

Peter, Streamer's "Applet BigThink.keeno Keeno can't
start: class BigThink.keeno.Keeno not found" message
is all I get when I click on "Streamer Alpha Version".

I have Netscape Communicator 4.05 = the latest

Thanks for any help.

/Piotr

To Alpha Testers:

Here is the results of my testing today.

1) Applet works like a champ using HotJava under Solaris. However, its use of CPU resource seems very high compared to a similar Java app quoter (Bullsession). Compared to Bullsession, the Datek streamer seems more "realtime" by 1-2 seconds. This could be internet lag, but I doubt it. The Datek streamer also updates more often which is nice, and may explain the CPU resource usage.

2) Applet does not work with standard Netscape 4.05 download under Win95. I believe this is a Java 1.1 support issue and is discussed on the streamer web page.

3) Applet does work with the standard IE4.01 download under win95.

Observations:
1) The server was inaccessible at times during the day.
2) Obviously need to be able to remember the quote list.
3) Need to be able to remove a ticker.
4) Under IE4.01, if I minimize the ticker to the task bar, then maximize it, the quote list is "blanked" out. Can get it back by making font smaller or larger.

Conclusion:
All in all a good start. I assume each day we will see bugs fixed and features added.

Peter, I have re-installed the Netscape Communicator 4.05,
this time it's the JDK 1.1 preview release, as per link
on the streamer3.datek.com page, but I'm STILL getting

"Applet BigThink.keeno Keeno can't start:
class BigThink.keeno.Keeno not found"

message when I click on "Streamer Alpha Version".

Thanks for any help.

/Piotr

Peter, why did you move orders7 (the original express server) from your MCI connection to your IconNet connection??? MCI has been your most reliable connection and IconNet your worst. This is incomprehensible!

Peter:

What the hell is going on here? In case you're wondering, I'm posting to you on SI b/c I don't want to get the Datek-e-mail-run-around and want to get a straight answer about the technical problems Datek has had the last two days from someone who knows the technical workings.

I think there have been enough posts lately detailing the problems customers have been receiving so I will not post mine [especially since I seem to have lost a lot less money than some more less fortunate souls :-( ]

Something is definitely wrong with Datek's systems. What is it? More importantly, when will it be fixed? Or will it not be fixed? Will I have to find another broker who actually does live up to the representations Datek makes to customers? (in the last two days these have been MISREPRESENTATIONS)

What happened to your new servers that you described as "<insert your favorite hyperbole> fast" Have the days of 3 second executions been replaced with half hour executions?

I know you are not a Datek employee -- but since you are the technical guru, answer this: volume on Oct 27 & 28 was much more at market open than today and yesterday -- don't you think Datek's excuse of "very busy day" rings hollow?

Why has there been no REAL explanation for the problems Datek has had for the past two days besides these lame and conclusory remarks? I realize that Datek has to be careful about what it says because it could be used against the company in future litigation -- but, Datek also has to realize that they have a duty to mitigate their damages (i.e., the problems their customers are having). Making pretend that there is no problem (Datek's modus operandi) when customers are losing money due to Datek's technical problems certainly doesn't mitigate anyone's damages, least of all the ones Datek will be forced to pay in the litigation surely to follow.

If you want you can choose to ignore all but the technical aspects of the current *uck sandwich we Datek customers are in...Maybe you can foward the rest to Jeffrey Citron...he may find reading these posts from concerned Datek customers will actually help to make his company better...you know, get in touch with the little people who helped pay for his Gulfstream Jet and 20,000 sq. foot Mansion...I'm sure it gets boring up there in the ether when there is not enough reading material on your private jet. Perhaps he is more concerned about the up-coming Datek IPO and how to jump up to billionaire status than he is with piles of customers backs he's climbed to get there.

Anyway -- What's the problem?
