There's an article in today's WSJ that talks about "what will replace VCRs" when TV begins digital broadcasting. Sony is prominently mentioned in the artcile as exploring high-definition disks as a substitute for new tape technology. Hope they are working with LSI on this - 90% of homes now have VCRs and would expect that same percentage to move to a DVD type machine eventually if this technology wins - that would be a huge volume product for LSI.
