The other thing is that CPQ also has an investment in seeing DEC
customers migrated over to their systems. I imagine they will do
everything in their power to make sure Sun is not eating their lunch.

Taoman.

Am I just whistling in the dark?<<

My comment about SUN really related to the additional competition being faced by ACLY. I agree with you as I said in my post that the SUN press release sounded weak in the Y2K area. BTW, I think this move by SUN is beginning to tell me that SUN is beginning to have some problems but that is another story.

Back to ACLY. ACLY is VERY dependent on DEC to get them into the big customer doors. Now if a customer is thinking of going to migrate to SUN, surely DEC is not going to help out by saying to the customer "by the way, we recommend that you use ACLY to assist in your migration to SUN!"

SUN will not be motivated to bring in ACLY during negotiations as it would potentially bring DEC back into the picture and sales people do not like that sort of thing. If ACLY had an arrangement with SUN then it would be a wholly different picture!

Finally, the date problem while large is not as large as a complete migration. ACLY is not big enough (IMO) to take on significant migration problems although I will admit that I could be wrong on that. I believe SUN has other options for large migration situations.

In any event, ALCY went up yesterday and being short, you apparently won yesterday's game. I know I didn't.

Have a good day and Good Investing.
