Ken, Let me clarify, I think a lot of what I say is misunderstood. <<1) Hardware is ALWAYS ahead of software. You have to have 'hardware' to write the 'software' on!>> My point about hardware being ahead of software is: the P200 MMX has been around for 12-15 months, there are much faster machines out there now. But the guy that bought a brand new P200 1 year ago is not lusting after more speed. (he might if he has a speed ego thing, but he does not need it to run that one application) Within 6 months of buying every Box I have ever bought over the years, I wanted / needed more power to play some game. The three I bought in the last year, the most recient a p200 notebook, can play all of the games Comp USA is selling with power to spare. This is with a chip that is well over a year old, maybe more as I don't remember the exact intro date of the P200 MMX. <<2) The comparison between the 180 and 300 is interesting, but when you consider that CHROME 'must' be run on a computer speed of 233 or greater>>> My lack of PC expertise is showing on this one. I don't know what CHROME is. could some one please explain. In responce to this though; 233s and 266s are redily available at under $1500. On 3, I agree with Meathead, A PC must meet specifications for its intended use, but speed is only a piece of that pie. <<4) I would comment that even though you might not personally 'see' the speed difference, it is there and it DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE>> Broad cast TV is @ 30 frames a second. anything above that speed and we can't see tell the difference. My point is If you can't tell the difference, you can't tell the difference. <<5)...You know we look at $100,000 as an expensive system, but when that system is replacing an older $2,500,000 system, it seems like a 'bargin'! It also allows companies that could not afford a 'killer system' get into that area...>>> This is why the industry is slowing, lets say you buy 10 of the new systems @ $100,000. replacing the $2,500,000 system you bought years ago. That is a 60% decline in the market. You know have 10 times the power for 40 % of the money. Now grow @ 50%. This comment adresses 'Killer Apps' at the very high level. Don't forget that the higher level is somewhere about 25% or so of the market. At the rate INTC is going, that $100,000 machine is only going to cost $50,000 real soon. Yes you will use more of them because they cost less, but there are only so many people that need them. BTW, I hear it is very hard to find people that can use these types of machines to their fullest potential. <<<6) You must not miss the point that DELLs JIT process will never be obsolete! >>> I am going to regret this one, When the whole thing blows up, No one will care. Please don't trash me on this one. I know no one here agrees, But I have seen it happen many times before in the stock market. Jim
