I see very little difference between people dumping (ala opening the floodgates on foreign nationals) and chip dumping (or any product dumping).

SOmeone explain the difference to me, as you see it.

i think you miss my point. they all want govt. intervention but it all depends on who's ox is being gored and where you draw the line.

what about govt. intervention to stop software piracy, illegal chip dumping etc. msft wants help from uncle sam to stop illegal sales of its software apps. in china etc? if bill gates (with $52b) looks to uncle sam for help, why shouldn't ordinary people who need help?

what are you going to do when someone drags in a trailer house next to your nice new custom built 6 bedroomer? you'll look to the zoning code of course.

the so-called conservatives who grandstand about liberty and small government are always willing to legislate and enforce laws about individual morality such as sex, drugs and rock & roll.

<<Go back to the beginning, antitrust legislation has always failed.>>

Has it really? Aren't long distance rates lower today b/c of Antitrust "legislation." How familiar are you with the IBM antitrust matters? Milk price collusion/antitrust cases? I don't mean these questions to have an edge flavor, but they do convey my views. I am somewhat verse on the subject and ... yes, opinionated. I cannot see looking back how the breakup of Ma Bell was a negative.

Just one man's spin.....SemiBull

PS - MSoft is tying IMHO and if nothing is done in the short term, the consumer will lose out and so will technological advancement. Must allow competition free and unfettered from the collusive and monopolistic practices of Bill. Break 'em up! :~)
