To use Linux as a client, all Oracle needs is for someone to port a JVM there. As far server software development goes, if Oracle recognizes Linux as having a significant market presence, it can port most of its product line there fairly quickly.

Which version of UNIX are you using? If you want to know what will happen to UNIX take a look at the stock of SCO UNIX (SCOC) and then you see UNIX end just like COBOL.

There are too many flavors of UNIX. That is what is killing it. SCO has been trying to get a standard in place but it has been universally adopted.

UNIX will have a few years more and then UNIX administrators will become NT administrators.
