Agreed, I don't think the Olds Rock 88 is quite the ticket for Gauguin. He needs something vaguely organic to complete the ensemble.
A '49 Ford woodie (my granddad had one!) wood be perfect, of course.

Taht's a Ply Mouth Woody. Is Janice telling the trooth? And yah, that's a lot of roundy metal and upholstery for 8500. If I had the space, I'd get one just to sit in, like a living room. Wouldn't even need running gear. If you've got enough space, you can use them like a big couch.

Come to think of it, that's what I used to do with the Packard. The interior, back seat, was straight out of the National Lampoon (saw the same article Jeff), and I used to just go out and sit in the perfect camel upholstery. Seats and headliner were mint condition.

Climb in over the running board and shut the door. I remember some fall days in that backseat, looking over red maple and beech leaves on the front window, and dreaming I was on a trip. I had gotten a red woolen hunting jacket, very old, by accident, and sometimes I'd wear that, and just sit in there in the cool and work on papers.

I could lean forward and look out the window, and the perfect invisible driver was driving; and it was October in Yosemite or Vermont; heading for the cabin or hotel; in the long sun and leaves.
