I heard Pena, on the TV in the other room, sort of...

As you know Pena is stepping down from his position as secretary of Energy. I didn't hear anything exciting, but he was touting the DOE's alternative fuels initiative. Bill Griffith asked how the American driving public could get exited about anything with gas so cheap.

Pena mentioned attaining 80 MPG and the promise of fuel cells. Nothing great, just a little more media exposure. I may have missed part of it though.

I'd be interested if you can get some details re his talk this morning.
______________

As you may know the NY Auto Show begins this weekend:

autoshowny.com

I quickly browsed the website and didn't notice anything FC related, but until they open and press announcements are made, we may not see mention of FCs. We should check back occasionally.

In conjunction with this auto show, also on CNBC this morning, Mark Haynes interviewed Eaton (CEO of Chrysler), (at the show site) who was touting of all things, stimulating seat belt usage. Haynes asked what I thought were innocuous questions.

I sent CNBC a note that if they wanted to get in on a real auto industry paradigm shift they should ask about FC programs when they talk to the big 3 and MB.

Fords big announcement this morning covered introduction of side airbags.... whoopee.
