And Intel software DVD is just a prelude to software DTV.
Something that will eat up all the Pentium II cycles
they can put out for several years to come... Just
read all the announcements out of NAB this week in
Las Vegas.

Zoran has to avoid getting squished between Intel on
the software side and the dozen or more MPEG chip makers
on the hardware side (LSI, ST, Toshiba, C-Cube, etc.).

All,
Does Zoran has any plan to release its SoftDVD to the public? There are many graphic cards that have motion compensation features (eg. ATI Rage Pro). I think many people wouldn't mind getting a complete DVD solution for less than 200 bucks ($150 for the 2nd gen DVD-ROM and $30 for the SoftDVD).

Javelyn,
>> Not to mention that the DVD market is not going to take off until DVD-recordable comes out. Is ZRAN working on a realtime encoder similar to CUBE, LSI, etc? <<

Not necessary. When there are enough move titles release in DVD format (at the right price!!!) , the DVD market will take off. How many average household has CDR to burn music CD? Not much but CD-DA took off many years ago. How many people has LD burner? This is a tough question since I never saw a LD burner myself!
