J, I was referring to Adaptec. They are creating a new storage systems division "which will combine the full spectrum of internal and external Raid controllers, Fibre Channel, and storage subsystems necessary to define and deliver Storage Area Networks of the future." On reading and re-reading this announcment, I gather that Adaptec does NOT intend to become the next EMC, but a subsystem supplier to companies who ARE selling and setting up SANs. After all, if they DID go into the storage business, they would be competing with their own customers. Ancor has worked with Adaptec for years to make sure their FC adapters work with Ancor switches. wj
