PR Newswire, Wednesday, April 08, 1998 at 08:17

3Com and CNET's Snap! Online to Provide Search Tools, Web Content and
Tutorials to U.S. Robotics(R) Modem Users

SANTA CLARA, Calif. and SAN FRANCISCO, April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- 3Com
Corporation (NASDAQ:COMS) and CNET's Snap! Online (NASDAQ:CNWK) today
announced plans to team up to deliver a complete Internet solution to dial-up
modem customers, scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 1998.
Software, search tools, brand-name Web content, customizable data, tutorials
and a selection of participating Internet service providers will be available
in one convenient, easy-to-use package. A free version of 3Com's Snap! Online
is now available for all 3Com customers at 3com.snap.com or
usr.snap.com.
3Com, whose U.S. Robotics(R) products claim over 52 percent of the retail
market for dial-up modems*, will incorporate Snap! Online into its
"Connections(TM)" CD-ROM in mid-April, 1998. "Connections" is 3COM's Internet
access starter kit and software bundle packaged with all U.S.
Robotics-branded modems. CNET's Snap! series of interactive multimedia
tutorials, which trains new users on how to get online, use browser software
and send email, will be included in the CD-ROM offer. This new addition to
"Connections" will bring users directly to 3Com's edition of Snap! Online,
which acts as the user's portal to the Internet.
