NYMEX crude, products end up on short-covering

Wednesday April 8, 4:57 pm Eastern Time

NEW YORK, April 8 (Reuters) - NYMEX futures on crude oil and refined products ended on an upbeat after a short-covering rally
towards the close lifted prices, mostly influenced by by bullish inventory data on gasoline.

The May crude contract gained 33 cents, finishing at $15.55 a barrel, off the day's high of $15.68, on moderate volume.

Thanks, pz. Thinly traded? Hmm..

Until today, the pride of my portfolio, my outperformer, was a tiny little company, "virtuous" in the same way that BTJ is (no debt, top cashflow, low valuation ratios, good growth, etc.).

But it is much smaller than BTJ, and much more thinly traded. (No analysts follow it either -- although that can be a blessing in disguise.) There were days when it was not traded at all. Well, today, the volume was up to 18,300 (fantastic for this company)---and the price was down by almost 12%. The only other time it had such high volume was last October, when the price went UP by about 12%.

And this abrupt drop came on no news that I know of. I suppose some institution or other decided to dump its shares. (??)

In other words -- perhaps it is not advisable to buy another such thinly traded stock (BTJ)??

The name of my once-stellar performer? Chicago Rivet and Machine. Yes, they make rivets!! Got a problem with that, huh, huh? Not very sexy, I'll admit, but everybody needs rivets! (Or so I had hoped.)

Paul, howzabout that? Your BTJ is up over 8% today, on no news (and on a day when just about everybody else is down). As of this moment, it is hitting its all-time high. What's up? BTJ is a great little company, but in cases like this I always suspect evil machinations behind the scenes, or insider info. we are not allowed to be privy to!
Just paranoid, that's all.

Or do you still own BTJ?
