Lyle - I don't actually know what IPR IDC has protected relative to the IPR that QCOM has, but as for B-CDMA, in the long run it is likely to fall by the wayside. When I last looked into it, it was not a true standard; it was more like a coallition (sp?) with all the attendant dangers of coming apart at the seams. At least one of the vendors (Samsung?) was talking about proprietary extensions for the next generation. However, that doesn't mean that it isn't a viable technology.

Hope that helps.

Clark

Clarke & Lyle, I owned some of IDC a while back because they were sueing GSM users. I never understood the intricacies. No, I never understood the basics of their case, but they had impressed some who impressed me and the risk-reward ratio seemed good.

They seem stronger on lawsuits than R & D. I got fed up & sold a year or so ago.

By the way Qcommers, I'm back in, I was more scared that it'll go up for the long term story than down for the short-term. With my uncanny knack for predicting Qcom's stock, it'll now drop 10-20%.
