I would tend to agree on their ideas about integration.

And being in the box-building business, I can clearly see the downside. Even in our bottom-end units, we are finding the need to provide some levels of variation in the componenets including audio and video. Having it all built in to a single device significantly reduces that ability.

It remains to be seen if there is a REALLY LOW END market ($400?) where it's OK to simply provide the "motherboard on a chip" inside your own case, and call it quits. That may be the market which NSM is going after, and may be suited for those people who want a non-expandable, non-changable, "sealed box" type solution to compete with WebTV.

If that market does materialize, I don't doubt Intel's ability to move into it quickly and forcefully. After all, as I said, they've got pretty much all the parts...

All this is conjecture on my part, not based on anything I am aware of that is currently going on at my job.
