Re Asia, I agree we have yet to see the impact from it, except in highly discretionary areas, which may explain MOT's problems.

It will take the shock of some major bankrupcies to bring the message home, and we should start seeing some pain in those companies in Asia which have heavy US$ based input.

On the other hand (I studied economics), low interest rates are helping the cash flows of the borderline companies, maybe delaying their demise for months, even quarters. Remember in the Great D_________, the low was reached 4 years after the crash.

IMO, we will see the easy cases this year, and the more persistent companies won't go under until 1999 at least.
