I just started with E Trade a couple of weeks ago
I havent tried touchtone phone trading with them yet and cant answer your question.
I have only heard bad things about Suretrade, except that they are cheap on market orders.
I now use Datek(9.99 limit, market) for non BB stocks and E Trade(19.95 for NASDAQ and unlimited shares BB, limit and market) for BB and some regular NASDAQ.
I used to use Waterhouse. Waterhouse is OK, they allow fractions online up to 1/64 but it costs 0.01 per share above 5,000 shares for any stock, BB included($12 per trade online). E Trade allows online fractions up to 1/64 if stock less than 1.00, online up to 1/16 if more than 1.00(not so good).

I have never waited on customer service for more than 10 minutes and for E Trade, getting broker to make decimal trade was only a couple minutes. I am sure there are horror stories about E Trade too of course, but I have heard that they are much better than before. I have only read about NDB.

E Trade also doesnt have lots of graphics, unlike DATEK, and site is relatively quick most of the time. Fills are often in 5-10 seconds. Cancels take a bit longer; I dont know if that is their fault or just how it is.

There is thread about this, dont recall the name.
