Would you agree with me that if a space is growing and big enough that there maybe plenty of business for both of them (CSCO and ASND). There has been for Personal Computers. Competitors like CPQ, DELL, GTW, DEC, HWP, and on and on, are competing in a space that has been big enough to support them all.

What is to say that the infrastructure of the new communications age is not as big a market with as many viable competitors all doing reasonablely well.

I think ASND see's CSCO as their most formidable competitor, but I think Cisco has their eyes set on LU and NT and deploying the multiservice IP networks of tomorrow. In this space ASND is behind. ASND looks more and more like the company that will own a significant portion of the layer 2 core network infrastructure as they turn their business more towards the cascade products. CSCO, although they too will sell some backbone equipment, looks like they will be more relegated to the network edge and to IP telephony.
