news.com.

Netscape doesn't die.

The next few quarters will be revenue scarce, so what.

Let the youngsters run the company.

I think with expectations lowered the company can get on with realistic goals and avoid wall streets corrosive distractions.

Apple & Commodore!

One can argue that the reason that these companies are,
respectively, dying and dead is because they did not
continuously improve their operating systems. Apple could
be as big [and ominous, threatening, the evil monopolist
controling] as Microsoft if they had not screwed up. Their
mistakes were so glaring and obvious even when they were
making them that even though I try I can not feel sorry
for them.

Another thing that has bothered me about Apple is that in
the past their computers sold at a premium over PCs. Since
many of the colleges and universities required Apples, Daddy
had to pay. But the kids got a snob attitude. PCs are for the
peasants, the unwashed. DOS is crap, Windows is a failure.
The higher prices continued even after Apples bubble burst
after they lost their technological advantage.Therein lies
their greed. Windows 1.0 I understand was junk, 2.0 somewhat
better. 3.0 was almost there, 3.1 was it. Apple was too greedy.

Error No 2. Apple sat on there asses, bad mouthing MSFT, Gates
and Intel on an ego trip while giving Microsoft a development
window [sic- a pun] of several years to get it almost right.

Apple Commodore? Norm don't waste your time feeling sorry for
losers.

My PCs never lock up when I am using them as computers. When
I make changes, generally fool around or add software, I get
in trouble. But that happens on my son's Apple, too.

Worse. $ 50 per hour. I was at CompUSA and asked one of the
service guys how much they charged to install software-
$ 100/hr. A kid, little, with pimples maybe 15, said to me
that he would only charge me $ 50/hr.

Although you do not feel comfortable with the thought, I
think that all of this is good. You and all of your peers
will be able to make a good living for a long time because
of Windows' imperfections and because MSFT has A monopoly.
