LD,
YES! Based on my personal experience, I found Datek to be one of the more consistent and reliable on- line securities; fast executions, low commissions, free real-time, and more importantly, their open-door policy and attitude toward their clients. Go to datek.com or their thread on SI. Read as many postings as you need, to get to know a little bit about this company. There are many good on-line brokers- This could be one of them.
In most of my transactions, Datek acted as my agent, with execution times averaging well below one minute. Interestingly, in some of my DELL transactions, Datek acted as the principal(I bought or sold my Dell shares to Datek, rather than a market maker). The average execution times of these transactions were well below 15 seconds. One could find it very lucrative to day trade Dell, on volatile days, through Datek.

Of course, this is only one man's opinion. Do your own homework and best of luck to you.
