Okay, I'll be more direct about my "crap" post:
-My first point was to reinforce stock talk's post on the MS TV on Windows platforms. This is a huge business opportunity for the graphics suppliers, including both S3 and ATI. If there's one area that S3 has a technology lead, it's with that Faroujda de-interlacing technology. You S3 investors that follow the technology should watch all this Digital TV stuff very closely. That ATI is demoing related products in MS's booth at NAB, should matter to you. It gives you a clear picture of S3's relative implementation of technology.
-Second point about ATI's numbers is to demonstrate that there still is an awful lot of money and market value to be had in graphics. Back when I started posting in 1996, ATI and S3 had roughly the same stock price. Since then, ATI has gone up 10X over S3. I took so much grief back when S3 jumped out to the early lead that I will post ATI's good news forever. (I'll rely on JerryP to post the bad.)
-Kevin, the single largest external reason on earth for SIII's stock price isn't higher is ATI. If S3 lost any OEM orders, the company that probably took the business was ATI. Anything on ATI is utterly on topic for SIII. I'll continue to selectively post it, though I recognize I may need to be less subtle.
