I was brainwashed by birth in a Church of Christ atmosphere and told I was a born sinner and going to hell. If that is not destructive to good life by creating a false image of a pure baby just created by God, then they follow up that most physiclal desires are a sin. Earl Nightingale says it best in his book "The strangest secret." we become what we think and believe. The Jews tell their race they are God's chosen people. That is their belief and gives them a positive attitude. A man worrying about his eternity only has a negative attitude and tends to neglect fate as his own creation. Our jails are filled with the masses of Christian belief background. Very few Jews wind up there. (No I am not Jewish.) Seems you are a thinker also. Think you would find cosmic consciousnees written by Dr Bucke very intereting reading. It was one I have enjoyed over the years. Never allowed to read "Age of Reason" "Leaves of grass" or many of this ilk. Was raised with thou sall nots which just whetted my desires.
