The Word of God as revealed in the Bible is absolute truth.

It would help, you know, if you qualified that by prefacing it with "I believe that..." You're by no means in the majority there.

This is the sort of thing that creates an impression of intolerance and arrogance.

Tom, I am quite sure you believe that the Word of God as revealed in the Bible is the absolute truth.

That is your belief system. Many other people believe differently.

Can you explain, though, why not all the Gospels agree on everything? Did God change his word as time passed after Jesus died? Did you watch the PBS series on Jesus? I am beginning to think that most of the people over here who believe in the Bible literally seem a little closed about recent theological research, based on modern analysis of the Bible and the archaeological record.

I would have thought that a very extensive and obviously scholarly production about Jesus, with very well qualified theologians being interviewed, would have been a subject of great interest at the Ask God thread.
