Ken, "there's no such thing as a free lunch". If you reduce prices by 60% in a protocol analysis market that is growing at 15% per year then you MUST reduce your costs i.e. technical and customer support as well as future engineering enhancements in order to keep your margins high enough to stay in business. You have just seen the result of the major layoffs that occurred in the Total Network Visibility (Network General) business unit of NETA on Monday April 6th. Hopefully you will not require technical support to obtain value from your $41k purchase! Does the campus suite include SLM and/or any of the "PM" products? If so, all engineering and 2nd level support employees have been fired! How does it feel to pay for Sniffer technology that has been put into maintenance only development i.e. "bug fixes only"...NETA management just forgot to tell you! I'm sure the marketing people will give a rosy view of the future...ask them to put it in writing! NETA is focusing on the help desk and network security markets and the will sacrifice the future of the Sniffer product line to get there.
