Dear Paul: It is a shame that the violence in this country has affected the young people to the degree that is has; and if I may say so the black teenagers in particular. But also consider the Ark . murderers were white, so as speaking as a white man we surely have nothing to compare ourselves against, to see my race in a favorable light. It would be simple to call this place an ivory tower and say that we have a small chance from this forum to change the destiny of our great nation. But simple I will not be ; at least today ! Just my opinion, but the first thing we all need to do is stop the finger pointing. This is a prayer place, a Holy place, the Holy Spirit is here; so I can start by calling all posters on SI, us included, to repentance. You say repentance for what, let me start for myself. Repentance for not praying and seeking God not nearly as much as I should, for not humbling myself before God nearly as much as I should. For not lifting up those in authority to the throne of God, for those in elected positions, in appointed positions. We should not forget to pray for our President but what about starting at the dog catcher, working our way up to the school board, then the mayor, governor, then the congress and finally the President. If you ask me what God is waiting for I believe with all my heart He is calling the whole nation to repentance, forget comparing one group or race, or region, or age category, or denomination , or political party or wing or faction, the whole nation, myself first, needs to be down on our knees asking and pleading for forgiveness. That said, young minds are like a GIGO computer ( garbage in, garbage out ). I stayed once with a distant relative for a few days. The patriarch of the house every night would get a movie to watch, usually rated R. My wife and I would excuse ourselves to the bedroom. It usually wasn't nudity but violence and four letter words. I might get some serious arguments about this but the man almost never took his family to church, watched trash movies in front of his family, cussed in front of his family, drank in front of his family, and the outcome was three disfunctional children. One homosexual, one "wacko" on 10 mental medications and drawing SSI, and one in a hopeless live in situation who looks about like a hung over Madonna. Well, don't think I am saying any of this has anything to do with you Paul. I know in my spirit that it does not. But I am saying that we can do our part right here on this thread, to turn the whole situation around; let's start the whole country off on a right foot, beginning right here. (WITH PRAYER) Let US make a concerted effort to stand before the Lord someday and hear Him say. You did your part, I heard your prayers, I have tasted of your fruit.
