Maybe QCOM decided that it made more sense to emphasize lower priced dual mode phones at this point. Sprint PCS and Bell Atlantic are offering relatively low priced packages, I assume to attract budget conscious subscribers. QCP-820's are all over the streets of Manhattan........Dave

I know batterry times have been talked alot on this thread but i still don't get it I thought CDMA consumed less power so times would be better this Sony is getting better but recently in UK i checked out GSM fones & one Sony fone gave 90 hours standby and 6 hours talk
600 minutes
well at least were are getting there.
Best selling fone from vodafone gsm was the cheapest only $16.00
plus connection of $50 in that price they had 2 fones one from
NEC & ERICCY, closest to Q type fone was the startac at $380 there were 25 different fones from 9 different makers.
Regards
bruce

Brian,

The low cost QCOM/Sony phones are great news. I think $149 price matches Samsung's price, and I think Sprint offers $50 mail in rebate. A lot of people who plan on using their mobile phones only occasionally tend to go for the cheapest model. The sound quality of even the Samsung CDMA phone is far better than analog.
