RE Another Semi warning: The glass is clearly half full here. Many semi companies have warned for the first quarter. LSI has not. We have seen a proliferation of reasons why LSI has a very good chance of being one of the market leaders among semis. If the semi market is weak, LSI will be among the strongest of a weak group. If the semi market is strong, LSI will be among the strongest performing stocks among all S&P 500 stocks. The long term growth rate for the semiconductor business is very positive. Indeed, the semi industry has not even begun to reach its halcyon days. Currently, there are two powerhouses in the ASIC field. LSI and IBM. If you take IBM's ASIC team you generally use the rest of IBM's group technologies. If you use LSI, you have much more flexibility. Given the desperate straits of the Japanese economy, the only potential long term competition will come from US based companies. Do I fear INTC? Without a doubt. But they now face greater than ever competition protecting their home turf from both NSM and AMD. Thus, short-term I see INTC as a plus. Long term no one can tell. LSI has a profit potential over the next three years that few other stocks traded on the NYSE have. You takes you chances. And I am off to a four month sabbatical. See you all after August 15th--when LSI will have already nipped 40.
