<<Tell me you didn't say that.
Take it back.

The big GUY is listening. Or is it the big GAL.

Joe, tell me one thing: it's the day Jesus died and was buried, right? So why's it "Good"? Unless you were Pontius Pilate et al., it seems you'd call it "Bad Friday.">>

Sowbug,

I never looked at it like that.
Must be my Catholic school training.
Joe

Of course it looks bad for Jesus' humanity, but in the larger realm his death was integral to God's larger plan of salvation. Handel quoted the apostle Paul in the Messiah, "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ, shall all be made alive." Jesus alone lived a pure and God pleasing life, so only he is qualified to 'take the wrap' for our sins. The Easter resurrection symbolizes Jesus' power over death and the grave and gives his church the promise of everlasting life. I'd call that pretty good, wouldn't you?

Now we could also call it good Friday with a strong earnings report behind us and an extra day to savor it. ;)
