Frank, re:The money is in the mid to
high end. According to Gartner Group, Intel will jump to a new level
when businesses begin to upgrade when the new Merced chip comes
out.

It will come sooner than that. Demand for Slot II systems will be great, imo, and just a month or 2 away.

Frank
not that I want to contradict you but pmmx is about to die, celeron is pretty much dead before it is born, merced will not make it to workstations for a while yet. So what we have is pII and its variations competing against k6-3d, 3d+ and k7 for the next 2 years. And don't forget about cyrx chips. I know that intel is coming with more advanced pIIs as well as diversifying a bit but I am not sure if it would make up for lost market share and margins though. Next year to 2 years should be tough for Intel, IMHO.
