I've been going out of town (to the same place all the time) a lot recently and the out of town place does the same thing with the commercials. No ticker and sometimes they are late getting back to CNBC. Yeah, that bothers me too. I don't sit and stare at the ticker, but I'm used to seeing it there and at anytime I can glance up and know where the averages are... well, 3 of them at least.

Unfortunately, the DSS mini-dishes just aggrevate the "loud commercial" phenomina - for every channel! Can't someone make a TV with a sound compressor/limiter that keeps the volume within a reasonable dynamic range? I'd buy one in a heart beat!

Yes, we get loud local commercials too. They were so loud that my tv speaker crackled. I and apparently a zillion others called the cable company and they turned the volume down some but still louder than cnbc itself. It is certain I will NEVER patronize the advertisers. I doubt they realize they are doing far more harm than good for their businesses - and paying for it no less.

It especially annoys me when they put on such fare the last minute the market is open when you would kind of like to see how the market finishes.
