In the book, Applied would be considered a Gorilla position company. I am no expert on the book, I just picked it up, but I imagine that AMAT is awarded a higher PE when business is clearer and lower PE when not. This is obvious, but the Gorilla mentality would say that even in a major downturn, which we are in now, AMAT would be awarded a higher PE that competitors due to its' overall market dominance and a yet higher PE in the upturns.

Nothing new to everybody, but the book goes into more detail. Interesting from the standpoint of picking future tech companies that have what it takes to establish a Gorilla position in leading edge technology, perhaps Rambus fits the bill?
