DO you know what I hate?? I hate those calls that start talking to you in this real friendly voice and you listen waiting politely for a spot to break in and then when you do they keep talking and you realize you've been polite to a recording. They're very sneaky. They say, "Hi!!!! How are you??" (slight pause-just enough for me to wonder who the hell this is) "This is Ann and I'm a neighbor of yours!" (Oh -wow--good thing I wasn't rude!) "Are you as concerned as I am about______(bugs, dirty windows, weeds, stray dogs, overeating)? I bet you are! Well, I'd like to tell you about this product I use." (I'm wondering about Ann a little here--I try to say, "Uh, Ann? Are you on Mission Drive?" but old Ann is a talker. Won't let me get a word in.) "It took care of all my problems and I'd like to share it with you, my Metroplex neighbor." (Uh-Ann--there are 4 million people in the Metroplex...OK-I'm slow but yes-I'm getting a little suspicious)-I try again-"ANN! STOP! Listen to me! ANN! ARE YOU A RECORDING???!!" I always ask this. Why? Do I think it's going to stop and say, "Awww-gee. OK- You caught me! I'm not really your neighbor" And THEN-even dumber--I slam the phone down hard! Yeah-like that'll show them.
