The main problem with the price of gold in recent years
has not been the demand(which I believe exceeds supply),
but rather governments selling their stockpiles, especially
in Europe where the new common currency has encouraged
governments to sell their stockpiles. Australia has also
sold 2/3 of their gold reserves. But once the vaults empty,
look out. ONE MAN'S OPINION.

Brian,

A cross usually refers to a block of shares traded between market makers or institutions. You'll see a block, sometimes a really large number of shares, or shares at a weird price, print, but it won't affect market action. If market maker a needs shares for whatever reason, market maker b may provide them, sometimes at a higher or lower price that is currently trading. the trade will print, but won't affect normal trading. same if instititions cross... fund a wants to sell 100,000 shares, and fund x wants to buy 100,000, so they just cross, but it still prints. I hope it's clear... a teacher I'm not<g> As far as the trade at .17 yesterday... was it ever erased? I didn't even notice, but regardless, I don't think it was anything significant. In fact, it could have just been the obvious... somebody put in a market order to buy.
( a big no-no).

regarding a website that tracks jewelty use... I don't know of one. I try to read all the news stories off kitco everyday, and you'll usually hear mentions of things there. There is a board at Kitco that is for people in the jewelry industry... if you go there, I'd bet someone there would know if there is such a site.

best,
kim
