Tony, Tony, Tony - Dell does not want to use Celery
RE: Gee, I guess Michael Dell and his company don't know what they are doing, do they, using this chip the naysayers call celery.

read the papers. Dell said today that he wants to stress quality and not cheapness anymore. Does that sound like that no matter how many designs Dell would announce he is not planning to market them activly.
Celeron is dead if even Dell does not want to use it

Gee, I guess Michael Dell and his company do know what they are doing, don't they, "using" NOT this chip the naysayers call celery.

Tony,
I'm taken back that DELL would use the Celery in the Optiplex. This is their business line of computers. On regular Business apps the Celery 266 will perform like a PentiumMMX-200 at best. I might see the Celery in a system dedicated to games or graphics but not mainstream business.

Tony and thread,

Not sure if the details of H&Q's upgrade have been posted. Here goes:
___

SUMMARY:

* We (H&Q, not Ibexx & friend) are raising our CY99 EPS estimate for INTC to $3.85 from $3.62, and upgrading the stock to a BUY rating from HOLD.

* The PC industry's transition to the Pentium II is accelerating as P2 units should be nearly 100% sequentally in the March quarter.

* In our opinion, INTC will experience microprocessor unit growth in the June quarter which should coincide with a trough in gross margins.

* Recent weakness in stock price and several positive near-term catalyst translate into an excellent buying opportunities in low $70s.

* Our new 12-month price target for INTC is $95 (too conservative--Rob!!!) based on 25x our new CY99 EPS estimate of $3.85.
