I just listened to the CC - and I liked what I heard very much.

General comments:

"CLECS are emerging as a powerful engine of change". "New groups, such as Williams ... are driving RBOCs to increase their pace".
Both these trends are very beneficial to ASND.

ASND has their quarters in full control now. I listened closely to Mr. Ashby. ASND is leaving current analyst estimates for Q2 and 1998 in place. The Q2 estimate is $0.27 - therefore ASND will report $0.28 in Q2 as things stand now Bookmark this post. The EPS floor is $0.27, unless they buy someone, get bought or revise estimates upward - they won't revise down, IMO.

I think I heard Mory say that the next generation TNT will be "late this year". That appears to be a delay from what I thought was Q2.

Access switching - strong 8% sequential growth. This is GREAT News! Some analysts were waiting on upgrades until RAS improved.

Asia/Pacific is a non factor - at least negatively. ASND is not counting much on this area in their 1998 plans.

No GX-550 or Williams revenue in Q1! This is great for 1998.

Plans to take GX-550 to Terabit range! They aren't stopping at 100GBPS, which is WAY ahead of the competition now.

Japan - not enough installed ports to satisfy customer demand. I like that!

GRF still being downplayed - it has an OC-48 port now.

F/R growth is coming from new and existing customers.

Bottom line? Upgrades coming, confidence is fully restored, Q1 was the most difficult quarter and it is now past. The trend is our friend - and it is up! We will see upper $40s this quarter and $50s for sure in Q3.
