Richard Gere stars as a business man trying to get a media programming contract done in China. He is framed for a murder. Interesting, well acted, and nice local scenes. I've been to China, and it gave you a feel for the weird undercurrents that lie beneath everything. We found it impossible to gauge the genuineness of people there, and were royally taken advantage of. Not that it mattered to us, we were just tourists. But you get the sense of frustration a westerner feels when up against a completely different culture with values inimical to those of our own culture. Of course there are much better movies about China, most of them dealing with other periods of recent history, but for a Hollywood movie it was decent.
