The people I talked to seemed more upbeat about coming deals and events than they seemed upset about this.

Sounds like they were just going to hire somebody that had second thoughts. Face it, you can call this guy whatever you want, but he was merely a marketing rep. Dime a dozen.

Instead of being a man and just calling them and saying "Thanks but not thanks" this guy takes out an ad to say there is no affiliation?
Sounds like a self promotion type thing that he is taking (probably not deliberately) into a downward spiral.

If this guy were on the up and up, he would not have spent $500 to issue a release saying he didn't accept. He would just pick up the phone and called them and declined. This is so obviously deliberate. The timing was just too good.

Besides, if there was no deal, why wasn't this guy screaming at the top of his lungs YESTERDAY?? I know I would be...

What is his motive? Could be a number of things. Could be to drive the price down, could be to draw investors away and into whatever new endeavor he is going to try, heck, he could just have sour grapes about something in the past. If it was to "protect his good name" as he claims, I hate to tell him, but it backfired.

Again, just my opinion, and again, Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.......
