MileHigh - Pick up a copy of Scientific American - a special edition they put out last October or November.

It described the semiconductor industry quite well - with a review all the way back to the Bell Labs invention of the transistor.

Craig Barrett of Intel wrote a good article describing the process of making wafers - aimed at a general audience (although Ph.D.s could understand it as well!).

Milehigh,
I've been begging Paul to write a little something on the subject but I understand if you go to intel.com you might find something in the educational section.

MileHi:

From the education section at intel.com:

intel.com

This will provide an overview of processes, not the industry.

Enjoy.
