<< "How are the Zips selling?" [rebuttal]

<<Update: ... just about out of internals and externals are selling real well...>>

<< Thanks for this info and for all your fact-filled posts. However, I remember being
absolutely confident around Christmas time that Iomega was having a blow-out quarter.
I asked the sales people at my local Staples "How are the Zips selling?". "Can't keep
them on the shelves" was the answer. Many posts on this board as well as on the...

What went wrong? We all know that Iomega is selling about 1 million (+ or -) Zip
drives very month. The problem is that we don't know if Iomega is selling 1.2 million
drives or 0.8 million drives this month.

This reminds me of why I was in Iomega originally. (I am not now, but
this post makes me think I should get back in.) There was a very
interesting analysis on the Motly Fool last fall which argued the
following:

If you throw out all Iomega earnings except future zip DISK sales,
the stock is still cheap.

This post reminded me that even if Zip DRIVES only sell 0.8 Million/
quarter, each one creates a demand for Zip disks for the next five
years. Still cheap at twice the price, from this perspective.

P.S. Of course the nice earnings could easily be squandered on
creating other, unsuccessful, products. However, I think the click!
idea is great.
