Sorry to hear about the weather down your way. That's awful! I'm glad to hear you are okay, though.

I think we had this same conversation about tornados and earthquakes around this time last year. <vbg> You should tell your friends that your little corner of the country is not safe from earthquakes--not by a long shot--and that California is at least prepared for them. True, that is something of a crock, but California is more prepared probably than any other part of the planet.

The Blessing of the Fleet has always been held around the middle of April. For some reason, and without a lot of publicity, the City Fathers moved it up to the first weekend in April. I think a lot of people were caught unaware by this rather sudden change in tradition, including much of the fleet that was to arrive for blessing. Also, it was a rainy, cold, foggy weekend, probably because Mike Sphar's prayers to the Gods of El Nino and The Great White Dump are proving highly successful.
