Jim: Gold as a commodity.

You recently posted: RE:" I think the xau may be the easiest index to t/a because it is based on a commodity."

Gold is not a commodity, never was, not now and unless I am mistaken, never will be. It is different....it is hoarded, mined, but not consumed. What other "commodity" is like that?

If gold were to be a mere commodity, with no monetary value, its value would be near worthless. I know you are aware of this, but in reference to the XAU and T/A, there must be a difference when compared to say pork bellies.
