Bonnie,

<<I expect a flood of ADRs to hit the NYSE in the next five years.>>

Not without a change in the way things are done Bonnie. Fact is , SE Asia and India have copied the Japan system of large multi national, partially because it is easier to control politically and is a system that favors the few cronys. (One of the Asian values I suppose). There is, at least here in SE Asia, a blossoming of companies that will now likely whither on the vine for lack of capital. These companies were not neccessarily heavily in debt. But it doesn't matter now. There is no money to loan. In the meantime Mahatir's son's company gets bailed by the national oil company. Things are going to have to become more based on merit before you see a true blossoming again I'm afraid. What you know is going to have to supplant who you know (as it has in the States). I hope it only takes 5 years. For a good illustration of this ask Bernie about the problem he is having with some suppliers.

best,
Stitch

Bonnie, it's well-documented, uh, scuttlebut, that a great
time to buy a country's equities is when their pension funds
are just about to be loosened of restrictions on their
equity holdings. Very interesting post, thanks...
