No, I don't like options because I feel that they are a gamblers play. LEAPS are a little better because they're more like using margin. But I hate debt so I rarely margin. What I do is have a core holding in the stocks I want to own, meaning I buy for the long haul until fundamentals change. Then with a small amount of money, I play around with market timing to satisfy my gambling urges. If you don't have play money, I would not buy options and I would not try to market time. The best thing to do is to buy on fundamentals for the long term. In any case, if you are waiting for an entry point on Cisco or Lucent, I would wait a couple more weeks. They are both overvalued, so you might get them cheaper. Anyway, just my opinion, but good luck investing!
