Hi Bill, Did a double take at first when I saw your name. As you probably already know, you share the same name as Imation's CEO. I saw this interesting post over on the Iomega thread today:Message 4032601 Saturday, Apr 11 1998 1:12PM ET "Ads for Imation Superdisc (LS-120) in today's New York Times: external unit $99 (after $50 rebate) internal $49 (after $50 rebate). This is cheap! It's getting cutthroat out there!" >>>>It's no wonder Iomega stock has been getting battered lately. <<<< Iomega is down. The previous split makes it look even worse. I did hear that the Zip Disks were supposed to have around a 1% failure rate which I personally would consider unacceptable. Here's an article that refers to that failure rate:news.com "When you've sold 12 million drives, even a 1 percent failure rate is going to mean a lot of complaints," said International Data Corporation analyst Bob Amatruda. This is some more information on the "Click of Death" associated with Iomega Zip Disks:news.com disc.server.com thirdeyesp.com 3M/Imation's reputation for quality and durability is, on the other hand, I believe, generally recognized as excellent. When you're talking about backing up mission critical computer data, that's clearly the only reputation you want to have. Heard that the Sony 200 MB HiFD is due out this summer. Wonder how good that will turn out to be. We do live in interesting times. Best regards, Ron PS.
