Maybe a run @ 10,000 first? The decimal point has moved over one - but in the 70s the Dow took a run @ 1,000,even got through briefly, and then it was a decade before it really got through. Dates may be a bit vague (maybe a slight overlap from the 60s) but this is what I remember.

Note that this moderately upbeat article from the South African Business Day concludes with a quote from the always bearish Ted Arnold who sees a $320 ceiling on the rally. Of course late last year he was saying that gold would not get above $300 until the next century.

bb-- we have been talking about the "big correction" for some time now. Who knows when. Mutual funds are taking in record deposits. If there is something out there to tip the scale in the near term it would have to be Asia, esp. Japan and exporting it's way out of recession. The meager tax cut they announced will do very little. Our trade deficit is worsening. Could be deflation on the horizon.
