To All:

I am doing research on the Netscape/Microsoft Browser war. I am hoping that some of the more computer literate on this thread can explain to me why Microsoft believes that the internet browser may some day threaten its OS monopoly ? Maybe I am naive but doen't a browser require an OS such as Windows to run on top of. If this is the case then it seems to me that the Windows monopoly will be alive and well wehther Netscape is around or not.

Also, am I correct in my understanding that the Netscape browser I run was written specifically to run on the Windows platform an as such will not run on an incompatible OS such as Mac or Unix and that these platforms require there own versions of Netscape ?

Thanks. Mongo.
