I agree. The people I have spoken to in the field say that designers are now starting to come up with new uses for these devices and that they expect further developments as the costs of production continue to drop. I think this is similar to that of transistors which are now implanted in myriad devices due to there extremely low cost of unit production. As you have mentioned in previous writings "what would one do with these if they were free?"

George, I got some material from NAB and noticed that there seems to be a DWDM with up to 32 channels increasing bandwidth from 2.5 Gbps to 80! How serious a threat to Ciena is this? fogort to mention it is for short haul apps. thank you.
